Hiranya Kashyap seeks revenge for his brother’s death, attacks Devathas and his son Prahalad…

Hiranyaksh, the reincarnation of Jaya got killed by Varaha. The death news increased anger in the Rakshasas. The younger brother Hiranya Kashyap takes the throne as King. He knew that defeating Vishnu and his Maya is a mammoth task.

As mother Dithi and rakshasa were engulfed by pain, Hiranya Kashyap learnt the lesson. He didn’t want to commit the mistake of wrongly estimating the power of Sri Maha Vishnu. He appreciated the power of Sri Maha Vishnu’s Maya and accepted it is very difficult to crack.

Rakshasas believe in Saraswathi and start acquiring knowledge

For the first time, rakshasas start following Goddess Saraswathi. One of the earliest amongst them was Hiranya Kashyap. Subsequently, Bali also becomes powerful with the help of Saraswathi. Knowledge finally knocked on the doors of Rakshasas. This had allowed Goddess Saraswathi to come to Rakshasa Land. Rakshasas, along with Hiranya Kashyap believed in defeating Vishnu Maya only through acquiring Saraswathi. He not just learns but treats Saraswathi as Lakshmi. That’s how Goddess Saraswathi becomes Vidya Lakshmi.

After successfully acquiring education Hiranya Kashyap does Tapasya for seeking immortality from Brahma. Impressed by his meditation, Brahma appears to bless him. As expected, Brahma says Vishnu is the only one to bless with immortality.

Hiranya Kashyap after deep thoughts puts forward his wishes. Hiranya Kashyap says, ‘Okay, bless me with Non-mortality’.

‘I want you to bless me with following conditions’:

  • I should not be killed by something that comes from a living being.
  • I should not be killed either in a day or in the night.
  • I should not be killed by animal or human being.
  • I should not be killed either Inside or outside of the palace.
  • I should not be killed either in the day or in the night

Finally, I should not be killed either in the air or on the land. Brahma disappears after saying ‘Tath ashtu’.

Hiranya Kashyap wrecks rampage believing he is Immortal

Hiranya Kashyap fully believes the first boon itself would give him immortality. Whatever loopholes would occur from there will be covered by others. Drunk with this feeling of immortality, he starts forcing everyone to worship him as God. He also discovers that his son Prahalad is Param Bhakt of Sri Maha Vishnu.

His arrogance goes to the next level. He warns his son to take his name and worship him. Prahalad denies Father’s orders and in a determined tone, keeps chanting ‘Om Namah Narayanayah’. Prahalad says, ‘We are all Humans, so are you. But Sri Maha Vishnu is Supreme’ ‘So I’ll only pray him till my last breath’.

Aghast by this behaviour of his son, Hiranya Kashyap tries to kill Prahalad. He tortures him in various ways.  Prahlad gets saved every time from Sri Maha Vishnu. Finally, Hiranya Kashyap calls his sister Holika and asks her to sit with him in the fire. Holika has the power to shield herself from fire. But, even with power, she gets killed and Prahalad gets saved.

Shocked by this, Hiranya Kashyap falls short of confidence. Prahalad says, ‘Father you have conquered the time but you have not conquered the space. There is no time for your death. But your presence is only in one space. Whereas Sri Maha Vishnu is there in all the places. That’s why Vishnu is greater than you’.

Hearing to this, fuming with anger, Hiranya Kashyap screams ‘Show me Vishnu, is he everywhere? Do you mean he is in this pillar?’

Pillar breaks creating loud sounds and from a non-living thing comes out Sri Maha Vishnu.
Vishnu takes reincarnation as Narasimha Swamy. Narasimha Swamy is Half Lion and Half Human. He jumps onto Hiranya Kashyap, holds him with nails. Takes him to the entrance of the palace, that is neither in or out of the palace. Places him on his laps, that is neither in the air or on the land. Exactly as the sun is about to set, that is neither day or night.

The Story of Narasimha Narasimha kills Hiranyakashipu, as Prahlada ...

Narasimha Swamy tears open the stomach of Hiranya Kashyap and Drink his blood. This doesn’t stop Lord Narasimha; he is furious and roaring in victory over evil. Finally, Goddess Lakshmi had to come, pacify and bring tranquillity in Narasimha Swamy.

This way, Sri Maha Vishnu takes his 4th avatar and kills Hiranya Kashyap. This death puts an end to the first re-birth of Jaya and Vijaya. Once, again Sri Maha Vishnu comes to the rescue to his Bhakt and protects the good over evil.
